FAQs
From a technical perspective, a Yano site can be deployed and ready in a matter of hours. But from a practical perspective, four weeks from kick-off to go-live reflects an average deployment timeline. Simple, smaller sites will be quicker, whilst larger sites with feeds and integrations can be a little longer but four to six weeks is a good guide. In comparison, typical larger bespoke website builds will average 16 weeks plus. We will prepare a project schedule for you following our initial scoping conversations.
Building on our extensive digital and brand work with global organisations, Yano has initially been developed for corporate clients and our module set reflects this. Alongside the expected management and styling of text and image content, our module design and functionality cover all ‘typical’ needs including carousels, promoted content, accordions, timelines, biographies quotes, news, insights, iframe integrations, share data feeds and more. As part of our SaaS product development, new modules and functionality will continue to be added and will be immediately available across all existing and new Yano sites.
By removing the ‘blank canvas’ of a bespoke build, we’ve defined functional modules and design customisation within the Yano platform. While Yano offers extensive customisation beyond basic templates, limiting infinite possibilities allows us to deliver a solution that reduces both time to go-live and cost.
As a creative agency, our goal has always been to deliver visually exceptional work. We may be biased, but in our view, Yano’s design customisation provides far more flexibility than rigid page templates, resulting in creative outcomes that look fantastic.
Yano is a digital product that may not be right for everyone. Larger and more complex projects will likely require a bespoke consultancy, design, and build approach (something we at SampsonMay can certainly help with). Due to the rigorous and secure hosting infrastructure on which Yano is built, the cost may not align for some smaller clients. However, for businesses looking to keep their initial costs down while maintaining the flexibility to develop and grow, Yano is an excellent choice.
Yes we can. Yano is a digital product developed by SampsonMay, an award-winning design and digital experience agency. Our agency capability includes brand creation and development alongside broader design and content creation expertise. A brand is so much more than just a logo and any successful website needs to reflect your brand personality, with written and visual content that tells your story and elevates your brand. Based upon your specific needs, we can support across all these areas and provide costed proposals following scoping conversations with you.
Yes we can. Yano is a digital product developed by SampsonMay, an award-winning design and digital experience agency. Content creation is a key component of our agency expertise and ranges from copyediting/writing, photography, animation and film to the design of infographics, illustration, iconography and broader visual asset creation. In our view, carefully considered, high quality content is paramount to the success and effectiveness of any website.
Yano has two standard costs. Firstly a set-up, deployment, design styling and delivery cost. This is based upon your specific project needs and will be scoped and provided in a costed proposal following our initial conversations with you. In addition, there is a subscription charge (billed quarterly, half-yearly or annually in advance) which covers enterprise-level, fully managed hosting, licensing and ongoing platform development and optimisation.
Yes you can. We have links to some live Yano sites on the homepage and our theme showcase illustrates some notional website design themes that have all been created in Yano. From the showcase examples, you can see the flexibility of the module customisation which allows for ultimate flexibility around type styles, format, colourways, image container styling and so much more.
Absolutely. We have single-page start-ups or microsites through to full PLC websites on Yano. Especially with the flexible modular design and build approach, it is easy and quick to scale your site as you grow and your content/communication needs develop.
No. The beauty of Yano is we cost the initial set-up based on your site needs which inherently means simple sites will be cheaper. We have developed Yano with performance, compliance and security at its core. Using Umbraco, Azure and Cloudflare brings inherent costs that are reflected in the subscription charges. It may be these will be more than your budget but we are always happy to have a chat and provide a cost so please just reach out to us.
Yano is a digital product developed by SampsonMay, an award-winning independent design and digital experience agency. We are a UK registered limited company, incorporated in 2001, with over 20 years of working with global organisations. Our experience ranges from working with FTSE 100 multinationals through to AIM and independent probate companies. To find out more about us please visit our website.
With a decoupled front end, the entire website is hosted on the Cloudflare Content Delivery Network, deployed across over 200 global servers, ensuring 99.99% uptime. The backend admin area is hosted on resilient Microsoft Azure infrastructure in Europe, providing robust security and reliability. We can provide further detail to meet the needs of your compliance, IT and cyber security teams as required.
Using headless technology, we can host a static copy of your entire website on Cloudflare's Content Delivery Network (CDN). This ensures your site is deployed across 200+ servers worldwide. In case of failure, Cloudflare automatically redirects traffic to the nearest available server, ensuring continuous availability. With the Yano subscription, you'll also get built-in, unmetered DDoS protection, which, combined with the CDN, allows us to guarantee 99.99% uptime.
We are committed to reducing carbon emissions, and with Yano, we have chosen suppliers who also demonstrate this commitment. Cloudflare aims to remove all greenhouse gases emitted by 2025 and is committed to using 100% renewable energy. Microsoft Azure is committed to using 100% renewable energy by 2025 and water positive by 2030. Our code and multiple caching layers are also optimised to reduce the CO2 emissions of visitors accessing the site.
We do not control or process personal data on the Yano hosting platform. Any email or CRM integrated forms will pass data directly to their chosen end destination and will not reside on the Yano servers. Similarly, personal data associated to digital marketing or RNS sign-ups/mailing will reside with the chosen third-party supplier and not on Yano hosted databases.
Yes we can. Technically the integration of any feeds and services will be discussed, scoped and costed in our initial set-up proposal. We work with several share data partners – we are agnostic in our recommendations and recommend you contract directly (for ease of ongoing data ownership and management) but, we can manage the process and make all introductions for you. Similarly, implementing integrations with other tools and services is something we can implement and manage for you. We will discuss your requirements in our initial project set-up/discussions with you.
Absolutely. Yano is developed in the industry-leading Umbraco CMS. You will have access to not only edit text and imagery but also to publish/unpublish pages, add new pages and add/remove/reorder page modules. Through CMS editorial governance, we can set different user permission groups to help you control the extent of editorial permissions granted.
No. The Yano product model is based on a more consultative approach. With corporate clients in mind, we know your time is tight – learning to design, build and populate your own website alongside your day job is unrealistic. Our role is to support you from initial project scoping to go live and beyond and Yano has been designed and developed on this basis.
No. As a SaaS product, Yano sits on our technology platform and can not be self-hosted. The monthly subscription cost includes fully managed, monitored and enterprise-level secure website hosting.
Yes you can. Yano has been developed to manage multi-language variants. We will need to deploy language variant sites and a small cost is attached to this but this will be accounted for in our initial scoping meeting with you or at a future date when the need is required and the exact scope is known.
Yes, we have Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity integrated as a matter of course. You will have full access to the GA4 console and we can support you with optional Insights plans if requested.
Yes we do. For clarity, all technical hosting and security support is covered within the monthly subscription plan, but if you require support around CMS management, Analytics Insights or content creation, we can help with this and provide a costed proposal based upon your needs.
No. At this stage Yano has not been developed with eCommerce in mind, but it may be functionality we add to the platform in the future.
Cancelling is easy, we do not lock you into long subscription terms but exact details will be shared in our costed proposal.
As Yano is a SaaS subscription, when you cancel you can not take a copy of the site. We will provide a flat HTML version for you and, in line with timings we will agree with you, the site will be turned off and all data deleted.
We work with a number of PR consultancies and independent consultants and advisors and offer a referral programme so please do get in touch to find out more.
No, not at this stage. Given the high customisation of Yano, we are not focussing on the time required to support and train third-party white label deployment at this time.
If you need clarity around any points or have further questions, please just get in touch with us and we will be happy to help.
